About Us

The K.C. Das Commerce College Library is regarded as one of the top college libraries of Assam, India, offering readers excellent services. The library has been intended to complement the knowledge that students learn from their teachers. It is a place of attraction amongst for students and reader's community.

K.C. Das Commerce College Library was established in the year 1983 to cater to the information needs of the college. The library has two floors –

Ground Floor: The ground floor of the library houses the Stack Room, Circulation Desk, OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), Property Shelf, Manuscript Section, Northeast Book Corner, Competitive Examination Corner, Librarian's Room, Library Server Room, and Xerox Counter. The Library Server room is equipped with one rack server, one tower server for Integrated Library Management System SOUL 3.0 and one book scanner for digitization purpose.

First Floor: The first floor of the library includes one reading room that accommodates 115 users. The first floor of the college library houses 8 numbers of almirah for Book Bank facility, 2 numbers of almirah for Bound Periodicals and a wooden stand for keeping current journals, periodicals, and magazines. A separate e-resource centre cum computer lab with 30 PCs is set up on the first floor, where users can access e-resources and other scholarly content for academic purpose. The first floor of the library also houses the K.C. Das Commerce College Publication Cell, Community Library and a Store Room.



A total of 30,357 books are currently in the library's collection, and this number is constantly increasing to meet the needs of the institution. The library is fully automated with Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) SOUL 3.0 software, developed by the INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujrat, India; an Inter-University Centre of the University Grants Commission under the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. One dedicated server and six numbers of client PCs are working in the SOUL 3.0 environment. One client pc is dedicated to the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue). K.C. Das Commerce College Library also provides WebOPAC (Web Online Public Access Catalogue) where users can search for book and other resources online that are available in college library’s catalog for borrowing and references through the College LAN/WiFi by visiting the following link: KCDCC WebOPAC

Main Objectives of the Library:

To encourage students to study beyond the requirements of the curriculum.

To acquire, organize and modernize the library collection to support the teaching-learning process.

To provide free accessibility to information resources of the library.

To provide different facilities and services to the student community and the teaching community to discover needed information and access them according to their priority.

To build up a resourceful and effective college library capable to adapt the changing academic environment.

Library Membership:

The library services can be availed by all registered members. The following categories of persons are eligible to enroll as members of the library:

Book Loan Period:

The library services can be availed by all registered members. The following categories of persons are eligible to enroll as members of the library:

Library Rules:

Every member must sign the Gate Register available at the entrance.

Users must produce their Library Card or Identity Card at the time of borrowing of books.

Fine will be imposed if the users don’t return books on time. A fine of Rs. 1.00 per day will be charged for each book kept beyond the due date.

Books lost, torn or defaced in anyway will have to be paid for by the borrowers.

Journals (unbound issues)/Dissertations/Reports will not be issued from the library.

The library card is not transferable and its loss must immediately be reported to the library. User will be held responsible for misuse of his/her library card.

The loss of Library Card must be reported to the Librarian immediately. A fine of Rs. 100 will be charged for the loss of the card.

Anyone who violates the rules and regulations of the library would be liable to lose the privilege of Library Membership.

Library Hours:

The Library will remain open from 9:30 A.M to 4:00 P.M on all working days. Circulation hour is from 10:30 A.M to 2:00 P.M



Library Advisory Committee:

A Library Advisory Committee is formed by the college's principal to monitor library operations and facilities. The committee is chaired by a chairman, and the librarian serves as the ex-officio convener. The committee handles tasks including purchasing books, allocating funds, maintaining buildings and infrastructure, as well as other relevant matters.
